Canals and Cosy Cafes: 10 Characterful Sketches of Amsterdam

By Lizzie Davey @Wanderarti · On 24 February, 2015

Following on from last week’s post about free arty things to do in Amsterdam, I thought I’d share some amazing sketches, illustrations, and paintings from this cosy, characterful city. As usual, I’ve linked up to the artists’ sites, so please do click through and explore more of their excellent work!

Lizzie Davey

Lizzie has a passion for visual vagabonding (a new term, maybe?), whereby she likes to document the beauty in the world via creative forms. She created Wanderarti as a space for this new term to flourish, providing somewhere for art and travel to collide. Apart from pretty things and exploring new places, Lizzie likes tea, takeaways, and cute animals.

Love Amsterdam, love this post. What is it about a sketch that says more than a photograph does? I’m inspired to get out my sketchpad more often on my next trip, and spend less time with the camera. Great stuff.

Thanks so much Lesley! I think sketches are that much more personal than photographs – they are a little insight into the artists’ world and the chance to see a place from a different perspective 🙂
