Google Street View Art by Lehel Kovács

By Lizzie Davey @Wanderarti · On 22 January, 2014

Lehel Kovács is an illustrator based in Budapest. Today, I’d like to showcase his illustrations of Google street views. Easily able to double up as city postcards (and they have since been made into postcards), these simple but eye-catching sketches really begin to bring out the atmosphere of a place.

Each piece acts as a snippet of life from destinations around the world – often showing popular tourist attractions, but sometimes just portraying everyday scenes. But not only do these sketches show a variety of different places, they also prove that anyone can ‘travel’ around the world, even if it is through the screen of their computer.

The ultimate armchair traveller, amiright?

Sketches of Sydney

Sketches of Paris

Sketches of Madrid

Sketches of Lisbon

Sketches of Kyoto

Sketches of Firenze

And finally, the not so exotic Cardiff (complete with funeral directors)…

These are just a few of many, many sketches. You can find all of them on Lehel’s Flickr page, or go to his blog where you can purchase prints or browse more of his work.

Do you like Lehel’s work? Which piece is your favourite? Which city would you like to see portrayed?

Lizzie Davey

Lizzie has a passion for visual vagabonding (a new term, maybe?), whereby she likes to document the beauty in the world via creative forms. She created Wanderarti as a space for this new term to flourish, providing somewhere for art and travel to collide. Apart from pretty things and exploring new places, Lizzie likes tea, takeaways, and cute animals.

These are amazing! I like how they’re not all of major tourist attractions. I think the Kyoto one is my favorite.

They’re great, aren’t they?! Love the fact that some of them are just your average, everyday street scenes. The Kyoto one is definitely one of my favourites, too!

I will have to suscribe to that too. I love the Kyoto one.
